We are looking forward to the third day in court on Monday June 9th.
Please note that the arrangements for listening by Cloud Video Platform have changed since last time, so read the details below carefully.
The case is being heard at the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, London WC2A 2LL. The case is due to start at 10.30am. We are expecting it to run until 4.30pm with an hour for lunch at 1pm.
The case is being heard by Mrs Justice Lambert DBE. She was also the judge in the BMA’s case over PAs – you can read her judgement on that here.
The court is open. We will be in Court 1.
Live streaming
The hearing is not being publicly live-streamed.
That said, individuals can still apply to join by Cloud Video Platform (CVP) link individually. They must do so by directly emailing:
ellie.condie@justice.gov.uk (Mrs Justice Lambert’s clerk)
(this is not the same person as in the previous hearing)
copying in:
administrativecourtoffice.listoffice@justice.gov.uk
with the case reference
AC-2024-LON-003354 — The King (on the application of ANAESTHETISTS UNITED LIMITED and others) v GENERAL MEDICAL COUNCIL
and stating:
- Their full name;
- Their email address;
- Whether they will be located within the jurisdiction of England and Wales at all times when attending the proceedings remotely (if a transmission direction were to be made); and, if not, details of the their location;
- Any information they wish to provide in support of the request, including in particular any reason(s) why it is contended that making such a direction would be in the interests of justice (e.g. why the case is important to them);
and giving a statement in the following terms:
“If permitted to attend the hearing remotely, I understand that I must not record or transmit what I see and hear. I understand that it is an offence and may be a contempt of court to do so, and that I may be punished if I were to do so.”
We understand that the number of applicants able to attend via CVP may well be limited.
If you attended online previously
These rules apply to any new applications. For those who joined on Day 1 and Day 2 and wish to join for Day 3, the Judge has asked that they email Ellie Condie and the List Office (email addresses as above) to confirm they will be in the jurisdiction and to make the declaration again, in order to receive a link.
Timing
The judge’s clerk has asked that any applications to observe remotely could be by 9.30am on Monday and has said it cannot be guaranteed that any applications sent in after this time will be able to join via the videolink
We still need money
We have got wonderful solicitors and barristers who have been working flat-out to get our case to court and presented in the best possible light. But we are still short of donations.
Over 6,000 people have donated so far. Please help us to bridge the gap and ensure we can see the case through. And please share with friends and colleagues.
