A Manchester Coroner has served a Regulation 28 to the GMC and Department of Health, citing many concerns regarding the tragic death of a patient. One of her key concerns is the lack of a national framework covering how Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates (PAs and AAs) are supervised, trained and deemed competent. She believes this is placing patient safety at risk.

In her report the coroner wrote:

Setting national standards, rather than allowing hospitals to make up their own rules, is the essence of our judicial review. We believe a national framework is essential, enforced and policed by the GMC who have the power and authority. We don’t think the status quo is good enough.

We are raising funds for our judicial review of this; we would appreciate any help you can give us at our Crowdjustice page.
