Our judicial review of the GMC has finished and we are anxiously waiting for Mrs Justice Lambert to issue her verdict. And whatever the outcome we succeeded in shining a spotlight on decisions made behind closed doors that should concern every doctor – and every patient – in the UK.

We exposed how the General Medical Council allowed Physician Associates (PAs) to be promoted into roles traditionally held by fully trained doctors, without proper consultation, transparency, or oversight. We revealed how key decisions appeared to be shaped less by patient safety and more by convenience. That leaves everyone – doctors, associates and patients – exposed to risks the GMC never bothered to assess despite claiming to be a risk-based regulator.

But we have a big problem.

Despite the generosity of our supporters – both doctors and the public – we are still a few thousand short of our fundraising target. This was largely because of the complexity of our test case and the huge amount of work needed to launch it. We filed over 7000 pages of evidence – and our lawyers read many more. Grappling with the GMC’s slippery, ever-evolving case was also time consuming.

We still need to raise £15,000 to cover our legal costs and fees.

If you believe in what we have done then please consider making a donation.

It is an achievable target; and it will be easier to achieve if you could share this message.

This fight is about the future of medical care in this country. It’s about stopping the quiet dismantling of our profession, it is about not letting medical care be replaced by taskification and protocolisation.

And it’s about showing that when the system fails then ordinary people can still stand up and demand better.

Our legal team – Bindmans and Blackstones – were phenomenal. Everyone in court, or following the case online, would have seen that. But we are up against a powerful regulator, armed with public money and expensive lawyers. We are relying on you. We made it to court. We’ve come this far. Please help us finish it.
