It’s coming home. Our Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Royal College of Anaesthetists is going ahead. The College Board of Trustees has called for the EGM to be held on the 17th October, starting at 6.30pm. It will take place online.

The EGM has been called in response to our requisition and covers the six resolutions we proposed. It needed the support of 0.75% of the RCoA membership – in fact there were nearly five times that number supporting it.

The Motions that will be debated at the EGM can be found here. In summary, they cover:

  • Proposed expansion of Anaesthesia Associates (AAs)
  • Supervision of AAs
  • Information for Patients
  • Rotational Training
  • National Recruitment for Doctors-in-Training
  • Regional Recruitment

Members of the College (excluding Affiliate members) will be able to register for the EGM from 26 September 2023 and will receive an email from electoral-services provider Mi-Voice. It will explain how you can register to attend online or exercise a proxy vote if you are unable to attend. Proxy voting will close on Friday 13 October 2023.

There is a lot more information on the RCoA Website

Together we have the power to make change happen, and to ensure the future excellence of UK Anaesthesia. Don’t sit on the bench – it’s a team effort – and let’s win on the day.
